Another eleventh-hour colour change for this print – the bringing closer in tone of the orange and pink suddenly seemed to breathe an energy and sense of expanding warm air into the billowing mass of cloud – something intangible I’d been trying to find without knowing how. The sky painting has it, but carborundum behaves very differently to oil paint.
